The SUX Network and UX Copenhagen present:
“Eco-Mapping E-Commerce: A User Journey Workshop for Sustainable Design Impact”
When we speak about Degrowth and Consumerism, we also need to speak about e-commerce and the endless online shops we design. How sustainable are the user journeys we build? How can we understand the negative impacts and make them transparent? And how can we design more sustainable e-commerce user-journeys?
In this co-design session, we will dive into the transformative process of integrating sustainability into e-commerce through the powerful tool of User Journey Mapping, to equip you with the knowledge and skills to create more environmentally and socially responsible digital products.
Workshop Overview:
- Introduction to Sustainability in E-Commerce: We’ll begin with an exploration of sustainability’s different dimensions, including environmental, economic, and social factors, and how they intersect with e-commerce. You will learn about the importance of sustainable practices in the digital world and the potential for positive impact on our planet.
- Systemic Impact of Design Choices: Through interactive discussions and case studies, you will gain insights into how design choices extend beyond the digital interface, affecting supply chains, consumer behavior, and the global ecosystem. This segment emphasizes the ripple effect of design decisions and the responsibility of designers to consider these wider implications.
- Hands-On Sustainable Journey Mapping: The core of the workshop will be a hands-on session where you will apply User Journey Mapping methodology to a real or hypothetical e-commerce user journey. By focusing on sustainability, you will identify opportunities to incorporate sustainable practices at every step of the user journey, from initial awareness to post-purchase.
- Group Collaboration and Co-Design: You will work in teams to co-design on user journeys and to prioritize sustainability. This collaborative process will foster creativity, innovation, and a deeper understanding of how to balance user needs with environmental and social considerations.
- Reflection and Action Plan: The workshop will conclude with a reflection on the lessons learned and discussions on how to implement these practices in participants’ current or future projects. You will leave with a clear action plan to start incorporating sustainability into their design processes and the results of the workshop will be presented at UX Copenhagen Conference.
Learning Outcomes:
- An understanding of the different dimensions of sustainability in e-commerce.
- Awareness of the systemic impact of digital product design choices.
- Practical experience in creating sustainable user journey maps.
- Strategies for implementing sustainable practices in design and development processes.
This workshop is more than just a learning experience; it’s a call to action for digital professionals to become leaders in the movement towards a more sustainable future. Join us to transform the way we think about designing e-commerce, one sustainable journey at a time.
